The Ultimate Fall Cleaning Checklist

We’ve all heard of Spring cleaning, but Fall cleaning is just as important! We’ve compiled a to-do list that typically isn’t part of your weekly or monthly cleaning routine, to help kick start your Fall home refresh. It’s best to start your Fall cleaning in September, but plan your cleaning on a timeline that works for you! If you need a bit of motivation, think of how good it’ll feel to sit in one of your fall throws with a hot drink and enjoy the smell of your favourite fall candle in your nice clean home!

Clean

  • Wipe down ceiling fans. While you’re at it, reverse the direction of the fan to help circulate warm air for the cooler months!

  • Flip and vacuum mattresses. To deodorize the mattress, try mixing a couple of drops of essential oil into baking soda and sprinkle it on the mattress. Leave for at least 30 minutes and then vacuum.

  • Deep clean the stove and the oven.

  • Clean out the toaster and/or toaster oven, there can be a lot of crumbs hiding in there!

  • Clean the inside, outside and the top of the fridge.

  • Check under and behind appliances to clean any dust bunnies or hidden spills

  • Clear cobwebs from ceilings, in corners, behind cabinets, etc.

  • Wipe down light switches and door handles with a disinfectant cleaner

  • Vacuum and clean window sills

Safety Checks

  • Clean out gutters and check the roof for any potential leaks.

  • Change the batteries as needed and test the smoke detectors inside. Get a carbon monoxide alarm as well if needed!
